AI visibility
AI answers come from somewhere. Often it is a forum thread.
Ask an assistant which tool to use and it has to pull that answer from something it has read. Community threads are a big part of that. If your product is named in them, it is part of what the model has to work with. If it is not, you are invisible in that answer.
Why forums specifically
Three things make them different from your own marketing pages.
People trust them
They stay up
They answer real questions
The same reply works three times
This is the part most people miss when they think of forums as lead generation.
We rank threads by what they are worth, not by upvotes
A thread with a lot of upvotes can get no search traffic. A quiet one can sit at position two for a term people search every month.
Search position
Estimated monthly visits
Still alive or not
None of these come from a language model. The model reads the thread to work out what the person wants and whether you can help. The reach number is search data and arithmetic, which is what makes it worth trusting.
Where the threads come from
Five sources, picked because they rank well and get read by AI tools.
Quora
Stack Exchange
Hacker News and Indie Hackers
Do it without getting removed
None of this works if the reply gets deleted.
Every thread shows its rules
Answer first, always
Common questions
- What is AI visibility?
- Whether your product shows up when someone asks an AI assistant for a recommendation. Assistants build answers from sources they have read, and community threads are a significant part of that. If your product is named and described in those threads, it can appear in the answer. If it is not mentioned anywhere, it cannot.
- Do AI assistants really use Reddit and forums?
- Yes. Community threads are widely used by AI answer tools because they contain real people comparing real products in plain language, which is close to how users phrase their questions. Reddit in particular is cited heavily. The exact share moves as models and deals change, so we do not quote a number, but the mechanism is stable.
- How is this different from lead generation?
- Lead generation counts the person who posted. That is one reader. A thread that ranks is read by everyone who searches that question afterwards, for as long as it ranks, and is available to any AI tool that reads it. The reply is the same. The value is much longer lived.
- Is this the same as SEO?
- It is next to it. Traditional SEO is about getting your own pages to rank. This is about being present on pages that already rank and that you do not own. For competitive terms, getting into a thread at position two is often quicker than trying to outrank it.
- Can you guarantee an AI will mention my product?
- No, and be careful with anyone who says they can. You cannot control what a model outputs. What you can control is whether your product is described accurately in the places these systems read. That is what SweepSonar helps with.
